Jim's Note: After 30 years of writing songs in the 'folk' style, this was probably my first real attempt at writing a three minute pop song.

It actually started out as a slow maudlin song of lost love, which I originally wrote following the demise of a previous relationship.

Baby, I know you are hurtin’,
You’ve been let down again and again.
But I promise you one thing for certain
Baby, I'm not like those other men.
So Baby, I wrote you a letter,
I thought it would help if you knew,
I wrote down, I love you, I love you,
So please baby, let me get through.

CHORUS
And Baby, I… Baby, I… Baby, I...
Baby, I do what I can.
No matter how you try, I won’t be denied,
Babe, I want to be a new man.

Baby, I said that I love you,
You said you would find me a cure,
I said, I'll love you forever,
And you said, How can I be sure?
So Baby, I wrote you a love song,
I played every note in my heart.
So why don’t we sing it together,
There’s a harmony right at the start.

Chorus and Instrumental Break

Yes Baby, I wrote you a letter,
I thought it would help if you knew,
I wrote down, I love you, I love you, I love you,
Please let me get through.
Baby, I wrote you a love song,
I played every note in my heart,
So why don’t we sing it together,
There’s a harmony right at the start.

Chorus
