Recording Diary I should say, right at the outset, that I have tried to keep a diary on numerous occasions throughout my life, and failed miserably at the task. I can only hope that this latest attempt won't end up on the Pile Of Good Intentions, like the others did. As I have said elsewhere on this site, though, I have since come to realise that my songs are in effect, de facto diaries of sorts. For it is through the lyrics of my songs that my thoughts, fears, hopes and dreams have all been expressed since I wrote my first song at 15 or 16 years of age. Still, I think it is a useful exercise to try to document the highs and lows involved in recording a full length album at home, using nothing more than an off the shelf computer system, some basic hardware and software, and hundreds (if not thousands of hours), of trial and error, divine inspiration, accumulated knowledge, and sheer bloody mindedness. Those of you who have been to this site before, may have noticed that I have already started recording songs for Dance Like No-one Is Watching, so I am already several songs into the project. However, I have not tried documenting the work behind those or previous recordings, and that is what I hope to do here. Well, that's enough for now - I've got some work to do...
