Jim's Note: Probably the most poetic love song I have written. The chorus in particular (if not the whole song) seems to me to be Shakespearian in form. Try reciting it out loud to see what I mean. Despite having been written in October, 1999, I still don't have a tune for the song.

And now through starry nights, my dreams have been uplifting.
Borne on wings of light, my senses are on fire,
And thoughts of endless flight, are thrown upon the pyre.

Be still my trembling hand, for love has come caressing,
A touch upon the lips, has been my sweet undressing
The slightest finger kiss, keeps me from going under,
And thoughts of newborn trust, leave no more fear to plunder.

Be still, for love must tarry, and settle on the lover,
And love must have full weight, to give, embrace, and cover.
Be still, for love to loiter, and give its due in pleasures,
Cannot be sold in lots, reduced to fractious measures.

Be still my dancing eyes, for love can be deceptive,
And yet despite my fears, I know I am receptive.
A look, a touch, a smile, can set my soul a-dancing,
And thoughts of silken threads have spun their web entrancing.

And contemplating bliss, may yet be my undoing.
My breathless lack of rest, has raised anticipation,
And thoughts of honeyed words, will do for my libation.
