I Don’t Remember Who You Are

I see you know me by your smile,
Although I do not understand.
You sit there talking for a while,
Your fingers gently touch my hand.
Each time you come you bring a rose,
How did you know they'd mean so much?
It doesn’t matter I suppose,
It’s such lovely little touch.

CHORUS
While strangers come, and others go,
You walk in shining like a star,
I smile and hope it does not show,
I Don’t Remember Who You Are.

I say, I know I’ve seen your face,
Way back when you were just a girl,
But I forget the time and place,
My head is always in a whirl.
Sometimes I think I’m really there,
Back when I sat you on my knee,
I still remember brushing hair –
Or was that someone else, not me?

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Today I thought I knew your name,
I had a daughter just like you.
I’m glad you come here just the same,
Your visits brighten up the view.

You leave me with a photograph.
Could that be you, if that is me?
I see a family pause and laugh,
And there are gifts beneath a tree.
Who is that smiling like a saint?
Now there’s a man I’d like to meet!
I’ll stand before him feeling faint,
And he can sweep me off my feet!

SING CHORUS TWICE TO FINISH
