Jim on New Compilation CD, Stand Up & Shout!
Here at Jim Lesses dot Com, we are delighted to report that Jim's song, A Modern Chief Executive, has been selected for a new compilation CD, Stand Up & Shout, produced in association with GetUp! (the non-aligned Australian people's movement); Blue Mountain Sound (who mastered the songs); Rouseabout Records (who released the album); and MGM Distribution, who are distributing the finished product.

Andy Busuttil from Blue Mountain Sound first suggested the idea back in December 2006. Australian songwriters and performers were invited to submit songs for inclusion on the compilation CD, and now, after sorting through enough songs to produce three albums, the final selection has been announced.

In a letter to all participants, Warren Fahey, who helped sort through the offers wrote:

"I would like to thank the many fine songwriters who offered tracks for this compilation. We could have released three full CDs with the material so, inevitably, some are in and some are out. The selection was aimed at achieving a workable balance of sound, style, quality of recording and, most importantly, messages that would serve the GetUp! campaign prior to the next Federal Election."

Readers familiar with the Australian folk scene will note that Jim is 'rubbing shoulders' with some of Australia's finest contemporary song writer's and performers. In a statement announcing the selection, Jim writes:

"I feel incredibly honoured to be a part of the GetUp! compilation album, and proud to be able to play my small part in helping to remove the current coalition government from office. Ten years of conservative governance under John Howard and his cronies is ten years too long. It's time to bring some humanity back into Australian political life, and if the songs on this album can help that process, I am more than happy to be involved."
