Good
Days, Better Days: What the judges said...
In 2003, Jim entered
Good Days, Better Days in
FOOM (the Festival Of Original Music) organised each year by SCALA, the
Songwriters, Composers and Lyricists Association, in Adelaide. Two judges had the
impossible task of
listening to around 16 songs performed live in front of fellow
contestants, and audience alike. The judges were Cath Kenneally a writer
and broadcaster with Radio Adelaide, and Robert Dunstan, the editor of Rip
It Up, one of Adelaide's free street mags.
Without embarrassing the people concerned, here
are the un-attributed comments as written on the feedback sheets.
JUDGE #1
Music: Repetition of motif works well for this song on the whole, but
maybe needs a little more colour
Lyrics: Chorus is great - the cumulative effect of the title phrase
is moving and stirring
I think the song can be improved by: A tad more light and dark in
the accompaniment
Other Comments: N/A
JUDGE #2
Music: Strong melody - good chorus
Lyrics: Positive sentiments
I think the song can be improved by: N/A
Other Comments: N/A
