Cypress Hills National Cemetery Revisited
In an earlier entry, I wrote about my visit to the Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
I shot some footage and photographs while staying at the 12 Towns YMCA (which is diagonally opposite the cemetery), during my recent New York City stay.
Although I had visited the cemetery on several occasions, I was drawn back to it after seeing a carpet of pink blossom covering areas of the lawn where the main section of the cemetery is located. There was something intensely beautiful and moving about the mix of pink, green, white marble, and other trees in bloom that attracted my attention.
I remember rushing back to my room at the 'Y' to get my cameras, and returning to the cemetery because I was afraid staff may decide to clean up the blossom before I had a chance to capture the images you see here.
I considered adding some commentary and music, but decided that it would be completely superfluous and unnecessary.
